Our next stop was Avebury, to visit the standing stone. They are somewhat similar to Stonehenge, but bigger, less touristy, you can walk right up to them and they are free. We had a lovely amble around the big stone circle in the spring sunshine, well at least for the first half of the walk until the wind hit us. But at least there weren't any highly localised hail storms like we had encountered on the drive there. We continued our drive through the green and gold back lanes. We think the gold is canola, there are huge swathes of the countryside that are luminescent yellow with it at the moment. And we encountered three white horses carved into the chalk hillsides during our drive in the back country lanes, and a crop circle in the canola.
