Unfortunately fossiling sites tend to be rocky and muddy so it was hard enough finding a spot for me to sit down, which left Gwen restricted to the carrier or my lap mostly. The spoil heap was abundant with plant fossils, nothing spectacular but enough to be rewarding.
The beach under the cliff had lots of slabs of rock covered with fossilised horseshoe crab trails and raindrop pits and the rippling of the sediment from the bottom of whichever water column it had been in. I thought they were really cool, Adam was more interested in ichthyosaurs than rain drops.
But Adam has brought home a small collection from both sites, many which he will spend more time breaking apart, including a large rock which he took to class to break apart in front of the students!
