As I watched the late news early last week, I was a little skeptical about the suggestion that temperatures in the mid to high teens were going to sweep the British Isles. Could it be that the land the sun forgot would be welcomed back into the fold. Sure enough, by Thursday the days shifted from grey to yellow, the sun appeared and my jacket remained on my floor. We even went out for some beers at 5.30pm on Friday, and sat in the beer garden until about 7.30. Talk quickly turned to spending lunches and afternoon in the beer garden. Maybe a bit premature, but optimism never hurt anyone (except for Dragons supporters).
Even more exciting than summer is the prospect of no longer being alone. I am counting the days (5) until Kat arrives. Then the quest for a place to call our own begins in ernest. I don't mind where I am now, but am looking forward to having a lounge room and no noisey people in the next room. Plus, we will have a spare room for you to come and visit. That's right just for you, so you better start making plans.
I now also have my car. Picked it up yesterday. The exchange rate seemed to be pretty good yesterday, as when I checked my credit card balance it was better than I had really expected. I went for a little drive and ended up at work for an hour. Then I went back to my car and tried to start it, but it just wouldn't turn over. Very disappointed, until I remembered that the car has an immobiliser and I hadn't deactivated it. Few.
And just before I go, rumour has arrived via a brotherly sms that my parents are selling the family homestead. Is this the begining of a plan to 'lose' me while I am overseas. Hmmm.
