We have been busy little beavers.
We teamed up with Alex, Iain and Nilu for the Oxford Uni Australia and NZ society fundraiser for the bushfire victims. Our team, Dropbears ate my baby, had a respectable mid table finish in the trivia quiz, and donated a considerable amount through the auction. Adam and Nilu bought their lab a belly dancing lesson - I am still trying to get approval to be their offical photographer for the day. And Adam bought a special Oxford United football club shirt.
On the food front, Alex came to visit for a few days, and thanks to her craving for butternut squash (apparently you can't get them in Germany) we made the best salad ever - roasted butternut squash, roasted balsamic beetroot, rocket, feta and pine nuts. mmmm. And this week we have a surprise in the vege box. It doesn't happen very often anymore since we have been getting it for close to two years. We had cavolo nero over the winter, and now we have... black salsify. Have yet to taste it but the recipes on ableandcole look good.
And last weekend Adam, Nilu, Jaffa (the dog) and I went to visit Elena in Cambridge. Since we haven't seen Elena much since she moved to Cambridge six months ago we skipped most of the sight seeing for just hanging out. Adam seems to think that once you have seen one college you have seen them all - and speaking of colleges we did get to go to a formal dinner at Nilu's college a couple of weeks ago and sit at 'high' table with lots of pomp and circumstance, including all the students standing for our grand entrance and exit.
Byron's pool - apparently he swam there once. We assumed he fell out of the punt.
