Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We haven't got around to sending cards this year (or even presents to my family - sorry, they will get there sometime). Mostly because we have been busy going out now that we live in Oxford.
Here is our little Christmas tree... (fire not roaring because the tree decorations and stockings are a bit of a fire hazard)
I managed to learn enough about the oven here to overcome the small size and lack of a fan to cook a roast duck with yorkshire puddings and vegetables, as well as chutneys, for four. Adam had to forego the traditional double roast, he graciously let me cook him the pork belly roast for Christmas eve.
Nilu's dog Jaffa came too. He had steak for lunch, as did Seymour and Nibbler who spent the day locked away in our bedroom since Jaffa is an excellent rabbit killer, and also likes to chase cats.

And of course, there was dessert, followed by a cheese platter, chocolates, hours of games etc. Universally acknowledge as the best Christmas without family ever.
Before Christmas, Adam shaved off his beard that he had been cultivating for a month or so. He tried a little goatee with mutton chops first, and even kept the mutton chops for a week or so (you can just see them in the Christmas lunch photo). But now he is back to side burns.
And now it is new year's eve already. And while Christmas was a bit warm, it has turned icy since. Midnight for us tonight is supposed to be about -2 degrees, but up north is supposed to be around -4 degrees. So happy new year.
