Match 3, v Croatia, Stuttgart

arrggh. somewhat a bear with a sore head this morning, and little voice. After a long drive we met up with Alex and Steve et al. in the city for prematch beers and schnitzel and waffles. Stuttgart and surrounds look very beautiful, but we were more interested in avoiding the hoardes of red and white shirts. The Aussies were mostly entrenched in the fanfest area.



The game was amazing. i think the guy in front of me was crying a one point. the chants of "you're red you're white you're going home tonight" had started before the match, but in the stadium with 15,000 chanting it in unison, the reverberation was amazing. The team did a lap of honour after the game. We left about an hour after the finish, and it was still packed with chanting aussies. we made our way to the 'official' aftermatch party, down dark alleyways through throngs of suprising friendly croatian fans, to celebrate properly. a very happy group.
