An English rainforest

We had a little adventure this weekend to our local rainforest. It was a big greenhouse, so a pleasantly warm and dry place (well quite damp really) to visit in the middle of winter, and still pleasant albeit quite warm place to visit on a sunny, warm winter's day.

Gwen has always loved trees and foliage, and she loved this too. She didn't seem to appreciate the free-range sloth or iguana, which both were a bit too still. Or the snake, tarantula, tortoises, fish, stingrays (best spines ever - like a flail), marmosets or monkeys. The ducks got a bit of interest but mostly it was the leaves she loved. She hasn't really seen many since Oz!

And we came away from our rainforest adventure without leeches, mosquito bites or evidence of other insect battles. What a quaint English rainforest! In fact the only thing we did come away with was a lovely stingray for the bath.

Marg is very jealous of the stingray!
