37 weeks and chaos still reigns

At least we have stairs and a roof now! The renovations are mostly done. The builder just has to finish off putting in the insulation and plasterboard and a few minor bits and pieces, but we aren't quite sure when we will actually see the plasterer, or when they will finish. Since the plasterers need to get into every room upstairs (except the bathroom, but including the stairs and hall downstairs) and the dining room, there is not much space left that isn't in chaos.

The loft - a lovely big space, but a bit of work to be done before we need to think about paint colours.

A whole new storey - the dormer is huge which means the room is huge.

We have been very lucky with the weather during the whole process. Of course it was windy and rainy for a day right after the roof came off, but apart from that it has been unseasonably warm and dry. It is amazing how much you can see from the windows up there. Out the front you can see at least one of the Oxford spires (apparently the view from the roof is amazing). And out the back you can see into everyone's houses and gardens which is a bit weird.

The messiest work is done now. The plasterers should be starting work on our bedroom next week. Maybe by next weekend we will have a finished bedroom back, with 2 weeks to spare*. I'm not holding my breath. Luckily we like the look of new plaster so the rest (or all if necessary) of the painting can be put off for a few weeks/months.

*well 2 weeks to my due date. 1 week before mum and dad get here - hopefully we will have somewhere to put them. But bub shows no interest in engaging, too much fun using my ribs as a xylophone I guess (kicking the xylophone that is), so we should have another 2 weeks to bring all of bub's things out of storage and set them up.
