bears) but we saw an amazing array of wildlife, and just driving
through the bush with the windows down and seeing the sunsets and
sunrises and being woken by baboons was so good.
We went on organised sunset and evening safaris, but drove ourselves
during the day. We saw lots of elephants and giraffes, zebras and
impalas and boks. They were everywhere! But we also saw 5 rhinos,
which was pretty good. We didn't see any water buffalo until the final
morning when we saw one lone one at ouf lodge's waterhole, but then
driving out there were a hundred odd at our waterhole and an even
bigger herd on another waterhole we passed. We saw about five hungry
hungry hippos too.
A lot of the smaller sightings were really cool too. The bird life was
amazing (I tried to take some photos for you dad). We even saw two
little owls on a night trip. I saw a serval in the grass. We saw a
civet, dwarf mongooses (so cute!), other mongooses, turtles, and
squirrels. And we saw a couple of chameleons, one of which was walking
across the road at the slowest rate imaginable... I'm going to step,
no wait, yes now, no wait, etc for at least five times before putting
his foot down!
The funniest moment was stuart's face and reaction when, not content
with being a dick (yes lauren I know you are reading this) and
honking at a hippo to get a reaction, he got out of the car to throw a
rock at the hippo. The hippo moved. Stuart was back in the car in
record speed!
