Spring

Every year, the first flowers of spring are so exciting. We haven't had a cold winter, but it did rain solidly for about 6 weeks so when the sun came out last week and I noticed the first snow drops and crocii I was very excited. See: flowers. Blue sky.

And what is more i got to enjoy the sun, because i had a couple of days of work to hang out with nath while he was in the UK. So we climbed the white horse at Uffington, ate at quaint english pubs, ate pie, and generally rambled around Oxfordshire and wandered around Oxford. We also had a trip into london to the tutenkhamun exhibition - and ended up riding our Aussie tourist luck when we decided to take the thames path from the millenium dome to greenwich. we were warned that it was dodgy, but how dodgy could it be at lunchtime on a weekday? Only accessible at about 3 junctions over 2 miles, next to and through old docklands industrial areas which felt like a ghost town, with high barbed fences. So no photos of that section.

pie. notice how the mushy peas are not fluorescent.

So we walked from the dome on the left, and this was the first time i felt comfortable getting my camera out of my bag. But it was a lovely day, not quite tshirt weather, but it gave us hope that we might have tshirt weather again one day.

Out for a stroll with Nelson

The old naval college at Greenwich - a nice surprise, since we were just looking for the observatory. But designed by Sir Christopher Wren whose work we had also seen in Oxford.
