Sun, warmth, good food

mmmm. clearly the title doesn't refer to england in any way, but to our trip back to Oz. yay Oz!!!

England has been warming up, and all the daffodils and snowdrops are flowering which is lovely. and this year our garden has daffodils, tulips, snowdrops and crocuses all coming into bloom just as we are leaving. the days are now a reasonable length. and occasionally the rain even stops for a few minutes. it has been a very wet winter, with the Thames almost permanently about to break its banks, and many of the low lying fields flooded.

Life has been pretty busy with lots of working. We caught up with Alex & Steve in London when they were over. A&S had been in charge of scouting out a pub with all day football and food, so we met them at said pub in Covent Garden when the sun was barely over the yard arm and it there were only two other customers in pub, both old men types.

so the pub filled up a bit and we drank and ate and watched, and then towards the end of the game we noticed a change in the clientèle. we were surrounded by british public school types in rugby jerseys. aargh. then we noticed the ads, there were three rugby games including england v ireland. so no more football. steve scouted the area - every pub had the rugby on. so we kept our prime table and heckled the english, lubricated by our five odd hours of drinking. the english lost which made the heckling even better. and then, rather than the pub or kebab dinner you might expect after 7 hours of drinking, we inflicted ourselves on a nice greek restaurant. mmmm.

but now it is only 8 more sleeps until we leave. which makes it only about 8 sleeps and a lot of uncomfortable fitful dozing until we get to Oz yay Oz! at least we are not catching the bus...
